Bedford is in the northern part of Westchester, bordering Greenwich, Pound Ridge and Mount Kisco and has three unincorporated hamlets: Bedford Village, Bedford Hills, Bedford Corners and Katonah. Each of Bedford's hamlets has a town park with swimming and tennis, a library, shops and a volunteer fire company. Bedford is a quaint New England town with a year 'round community, and many weekend home owners. It has become a summer alternative to the Hamptons, and easy access to NYC makes it a perfect commuter town. Residents enjoy a variety of the arts with concerts, art museums, galleries, and family activities. Outdoor activites such as hiking, cross country skiing, canoeing, kyaking, are all available here. The Halloween parade through the village green, the "revolutionary" treasure hunt, the fireman's parade are just a few fun old fashioned traditions that all enjoy. Bedford Village is particularly striking with turn of the century, and revolutionary-era builidings and a common greenspace, and charming shops, restaraunts and movie theater around the "green". Bedford is home to many important conserved open spaces, an intricate horse and walking trail system (BRLA or Bedford Riding Lane Assn) in addition to many architecturally signifigant and historical homes.
